Cthulhu still lives! That’s according to the popular horror creature’s creator, H. P. Lovecraft. And that’s also according to one of its biggest fans, famous game designer Sandy Petersen. Petersen has actually adopted it as some sort of battle cry for his ongoing Kickstarter campaign for his new game called Cthulhu World Combat.
Petersen has worked as a designer for a considerable number of widely played games, including Doom, Quake, and Age of Empires. But he is perhaps best known for creating the Call of Cthulhu board games, which have collectively been adapted for iOS as Call of Cthulhu: Wasted Land.
Now, with Cthulhu World Combat, Petersen is intent on popularizing a new game based on Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos.

As Petersen explains in his Kickstarter video pitch above, Cthulhu World Combat combines two of his favorite things: strategy gaming and cosmic horror.
In Cthulhu World Combat, you play as Cthulhu himself (itself?) or as another cosmic entity. It’s a turn-based strategy game where you compete for total control of the cosmos.
Petersen seeks to collect at least $300,000 to fund the development of Cthulhu World Combat. If you think it’s the kind of concept that you’d like to come to fruition, then consider backing it on Kickstarter. Click here if you believe that, yes, Cthulhu still lives!
