AppAdvice App Of The Week For October 15, 2012

AppAdvice App Of The Week For October 15, 2012

Every week, our staff will handpick an app from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These apps will always be from various categories, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and have been using them daily. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy!

Recall – Reminders for Recommendations

Keep track of all the entertainment recommendations you receive with our App of the Week.

Our App of the Week is definitely going to be useful for many, since recommendations happen everyday — why not keep track of them all in one place with Recall – Reminders for Recommendations?
This gorgeous little app is the place to keep track of all of the recommendations that you get — movies, television shows, music, books, and even apps. Recall features an interface that is separated into tabs, which is very similar to how the iTunes and App Stores are laid out on your iPhone. A side panel menu for navigation gives you options for viewing your items, archived items, and even lists like New Releases and Top Charts.
To add a new item, you can search through the lists or do a manual search with the + button. Search results will be delivered to you in real-time, so there’s no waiting around. Movies even get Rotten Tomatoes scores, and everything has a link to iTunes if you decide to purchase.
Any item you add to your items will also have the option to set a reminder, so that you actually remember about it. For items that are already out, you can set the reminder for any day and time you want. New releases can get a reminder once they are released, which is incredibly handy.
Items can be archived once you get around to them, and you can also share your recommendations with friends via email, Facebook, and Twitter.
Recall is off to a solid start, and we definitely recommend checking it out if you have always wanted to keep track of recommendations for entertainment in one place. The app is currently U.S. only though, so please keep that in mind.

Honorable Mention

Rinky Dinky Rhyme Book

Keep your children entertained with the Rinky Dinky Rhyme Book.
If you have kids, then this Honorable Mention pick is for you! The Rinky Dinky Rhyme Book is sure to be a hit with young children. With this iPad equivalent of a digital sticker book, kids will be entertained with 16 original nursery rhymes, as well as stickers.
The app is comprised of pages with a rhyme on it, and there are six stickers on each page that can be placed on a hand-drawn image. Of course, using intuitive multitouch gestures, kids can move, rotate, flip, and even adjust the size of stickers to whatever they want. The sky is the limit here.
These aren’t ordinary stickers either — they can be used as a virtual keyboard for music, which can go along with the background music for each rhyme. Of course, parents can read the rhymes to their kids, or you can opt for the automatic narration feature.
This is definitely a winning app for those with kids, so be sure to check it out for yourself.
