Arrows XD Is A Puzzle Game That Will Tickle Your Brain In Multiple Ways

Arrows XD ($0.99) by Local Aliens LLC is a challenging newpuzzle game for your iPhone and iPad. You won’t look at arrows the same way again once you get going with this brain teaser.
Puzzle games are pretty much one of my favorite types of games on the iOS platform. The touch screen is just made for these types of games, and Arrows XD is no different. The visuals contained in here are absolutely gorgeous and look fantastic on Retina displays (even optimized for the iPhone 5), and the ambient music helps you relax, even getting you to think of how to solve the puzzle that you are currently on. The entire game also has a futuristic feel to it, which is pretty cool.

So what is Arrows XD? There are five different level packs, each containing 20 puzzles. Each puzzle will have various blocks, orbs, stars, and arrow pieces. The objective is to get the colored arrow blocks into the matching colored orbs. while also attempting to collect any stars along the way. However, the arrows can only move forward in the direction that the arrow points in, but you can only move it in the perpendicular direction (left and right if it points up or down, up and down if it points left or right). The arrow blocks continue to move forward until they run into a block, at which point, they will stop. If they are unable to be stopped, well, then that’s a sign that you should probably start over.
Scores will be determined by how fast it takes you to complete a level (there is a timer going) and how many stars you collect. The stars are actually optional, but they increase your score, so I would recommend getting them all. Technically, though, you just have to get the arrows into their orbs, but having high scores will eventually unlock bonus levels.
As you make progress in the game, there will be new elements that are introduced, such as teleportation blocks and color changers. These new puzzle elements keeps things fresh and interesting, so there’s always something new to test you. Each puzzle can have multiple solutions as well, so it’s always good to tinker around. Game Center is integrated for leaderboards and achievements.

One thing I didn’t like about the game is that if you keep restarting a level because of mistakes, the game will ask you if you want to buy the solutions pack, which is sold for another $0.99. This happens multiple times as well, which I found rather annoying. It should not ask more than once, personally. But if you prefer to have all of the solutions available at hand (but what fun is that?), then you can purchase the solutions via in-app purchase.
I am finding the game to be a blast to play, and it’s definitely making me think of solutions. I love the visuals, music, and gameplay. Any puzzle fan will definitely love having this game around on their iPhone and iPad, and it’s quite a bargain at only$0.99 in the App Store. There is also a free version available, if you’d rather try before you buy.
