Apple’s Passbook, a new feature in iOS 6, is the subject of a new lawsuit filed by Ameranth, Inc. The company believes that the ticketing app violates four of their patents, according to Patently Apple.
According to the report, Ameranth is claiming that Apple violated their patents with regards to “ticketing, reservations, and other hospitality functions” and the “generation and transmitting” of menus among wired, wireless, and Web-based systems.
These patents include:
- No. 6,384,850: “Information management and synchronous communications system with menu generation.”
- No. 6,871,325: “Information management and synchronous communications system with menu generation.”
- No. 6,982,733: “Information management and synchronous communications system with menu generation, and handwriting and voice modification of orders.”
- No. 8,146,077: “Information management and synchronous communications system with menu generation, and handwriting and voice modification of orders”
Apple isn’t the first company Calif.-based Ameranth has accused of patent infringement. Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Pizza Hut, and Hotels.com have also been sued.
Ameranth believes Apple’s infringement of their patents was willful and is requesting damages.
