The AppAdvice Week In Review: 'iPad Mini' Rumors And Predictions

The AppAdvice Week In Review: ‘iPad Mini’ Rumors And Predictions

On Tuesday, Oct. 23, Apple will finally launch the so-called “iPad Mini” at the California Theatre in San Jose, Calif. When the world finally sees Apple’s smaller tablet, it will signal the end of a rumor season that began late last year. Here are some of the stories we covered ahead of this important event.

The “iPad Mini” Launch Event

Here is what we think we know about the compact iPad, based on the latest set of rumors:
The new tablet will have a 7.85-inch high-definition screen, a Lightning connector, and arrive in two colors, black and white. Additionally, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models could make their debut.
In terms of price, little is known. Most likely, iPad Mini price points will run between $200 and $400, depending on storage size. Because of this, Apple is likely to stop sales of the $399 iPad 2. Regardless, no matter what the price, at least one analyst calls the arrival of a smaller iPad the “worst nightmare” for Apple’s competitors.
The iPad Mini could launch as early as Friday, Nov. 2, with preorders likely to start soon after Apple’s event.
Only Apple knows for sure what the compact tablet will actually be called. Until then, we can only guess – and guess we will. Among the picks selected by AppAdvice writers and readers include iPad jr., iPad nano, iPad slate, iPod XL, Little Pad, and more.

New MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and more

The iPad Mini probably won’t be the only new product announced on Tuesday. Additionally, expect to see a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina displayMac mini a modified iPad which will include a Lightning connector, and a new 27-inch iMac. Plus, Apple will likely use the event to show more of iTunes 11, which was first announced at last month’s iPhone 5 event.
