Today’s Apps Gone Free: Apocalypse Max, Soaring, Hatchi And More
Play as Max and fight your way through hordes of zombies in Wandake’s action platformer, Apocalypse Max: Better Dead Than Undead. We also have an eye-popping weather app, and an app that allows you to raise your very own virtual pet.

iPhone:

Soaring ($1.99 → Free, 14.6 MB): Soar through virtual skies with this weather app. It utilizes your GPS location and the current time to determine the location of the sun and moon in your virtual sky. Of course, it’s also able to display the time and weather conditions. The app includes 12-hour and 24-hour time display options, Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature options, and the ability to tweet about the weather from within the app. It was recently updated with iPhone 5 screen support as well.
Soaring is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 49 ratings.
Box 2 Box ($0.99 → Free, 15.2 MB): Guide your four-sided ship from Box 2 Box in this puzzle game. Tap on the screen to activate your ship’s thrusters, and tilt to steer it through the air. Your job is to fly from one box to the other without running out of fuel. The game includes 78 levels, all kinds of obstacles, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center. A time trial mode is available via in-app purchase.

ChemTrix ($1.99 → Free, 5.2 MB): A calculator app designed for common chemistry problems. You’re provided with instant access to a handful elements and number buttons in order to allow you to easily construct chemical formulas. You can also just swipe right to left to reveal an alphabetical list of all of the elements of the periodic table. Tap and hold on an element to view details about it. The app also includes organic groups, formula history, and the ability to assign elements or groups to buttons.

Compass, Flashlight, Speedometer, Altimeter, Course ($0.99 → Free, 2.3 MB): An all-in-one utility app for travelers and adventurers. The app includes an instant-on flashlight with strobe, compass, speedometer, and altimeter. You’re also able to switch between different units of measurement, like MPH, KM/H, meters, and feet, on the fly.
Compass, Flashlight, Speedometer, Altimeter, Course is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 19 ratings.

Universal:

Hatchi – A retro virtual pet ($0.99 → Free, 5.4 MB): Hatch and raise your very own virtual pet with this retro-inspired game. Your Hatchi monster will need to be fed, played with, bathed, and generally looked after to make sure it grows up happy. The game includes a variety of mini-games, stat tracking, an evolution tree so you can see the path your Hatchi monster has taken, and achievements via Game Center. It was recently updated with iPhone 5 screen support as well.
Hatchi – A retro virtual pet is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 7988 ratings.
Animator ($0.99 → Free, 7.9 MB): Make your own animated flip books with this fun art creation app. You’re able to construct your animation page-by-page. Each time you flip to a new page, you can choose to either duplicate the previous page to minimize your workload or you can just go off of a residual presence. Animations can be previewed before being sent off via Facebook, Twitter, or email. The app includes a variety of drawing tools, the ability to snap a photo and use it as a background, a user guide, and stat tracking.
Animator is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 79 ratings.
Zuba! ($0.99 → Free, 46.6 MB): Help Zuba recover his stolen candies in this endless distance game. Zuba goes rolling ahead all on his own, but it’s up to you to dodge the dangerous obstacles by steering him around them. You can also acquire super gadgets to launch yourself over obstacles or blast through them. Just be sure to continuously collect candies, otherwise you’ll run out of energy. The game includes three control variants, loads of colorful environments and obstacles, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center.
Zuba! is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 10 ratings.
Apocalypse Max: Better Dead Than Undead ($2.99 → Free, 293.3 MB): Fight your way through hordes of zombies in this action platformer. You’re able to guide Max up and around obstacles via on-screen buttons. Unleash close combat attacks by swiping across the screen, and toss grenades into groups of zombies to rip them apart from afar. The game includes 20 levels, 16 zombie types, 18 weapons to discover, and leaderboards via Game Center.
Apocalypse Max: Better Dead Than Undead is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 522 ratings.
