Today’s Best Apps: PhotoPhrase, Safe Diary, Splashtop 2 And More

Today’s Best Apps features the most promising releases from the last 24 hours. Thousands of apps get approved by Apple daily and we hand-select what we think are the new potential gems that we’re considering for review each day.

Universal:

Carma Free by Stainless Games Ltd (Free, 76.2 MB): Carmageddon is an arcade racing game for the iPhone. In this game you must blast your opponents with your vehicle and stay alive the longest. There are tons of power-ups that you can pick up to aid you in the battle. There are five dangerous opponents, and one environment to be played in, in this free version of the game.
Sir Death by GAMEVIL Inc. (Free, 88.8 MB): Sir Death is a casual arcade game where you blast zombies and try to survive as long as possible. There are weapons, skills, and special items that you can use to aid in survival. You can shoot, dodge, kick, and punch the undead.
PhotoPhrase: type on photos by StudentShortcuts Inc. ($0.99, 5.2 MB): Add captions to your photos with PhotoPhrase for iOS. The app allows you to customize the size and color of the font. You can add visual effects such as mirroring to your text. There are gestures that you can use to rotate words as well. You can layer words for additional effect.

iPhone:

Safe Diary – personal secured diary and journal with calendar and iCloud sync by Avvotek Ltd. ($1.99, 6.2 MB): Safe Diary is a journal application for the iPhone. The app features 3-D page turning animations and a passcode lock. You can add text and place images in your journal as well. The app automatically syncs your journal and you can send all of your entries via email or as PDFs.
Splashtop 2 – Remote Desktop for iPhone & iPod by Splashtop Inc. (Free, 9.7 MB): Splashtop 2 allows you to remotely access your PC or Mac with your iPhone. The app lets you stream and use applications such as Microsoft Office and browse flash enabled websites. The app includes an optional in-app purchase that allows you to access your computer over 3G or the Internet using Splashtop servers.
