The jury may still be out on whether “GIF” is pronounced with a hard G or a soft G. But here’s one thing that’s certain: the popular GIF-sharing appGifBoom has just gotten its biggest update yet.....................
Considering that the app has been around since 2011, that’s saying something. So, what exactly makes this update the biggest yet for GifBoom?
For starters, you can now add voice and music backgrounds to your GIFs. A new step in the GIF-posting process has been added, and this lets you choose between recording your voice or selecting some music to attach to your GIF.
If you choose to do the former, you just have to press and hold a button to record your voice and let others hear what you have to say. And if you choose to do the latter, you just need to tap a different button to search GifBoom’s database of popular song snippets and select one to go with your GIF.
What’s more, GIFs and audio can also be sent together in private messages.
Speaking of the app’s new post menu, it looks a lot like the Tumblr iOS app’s post menu. In fact, the overall interface of GifBoom looks a lot likeInstagram‘s. And this is just unfortunate, in my view. I like that GifBoom has a familiar interface that’s easy to use for even the newest of users. But I don’t like that it’s way too familiar.
Anyway, the latest update to GifBoom also brings optimizations for text GIFs and introduces a new set of algorithms that enables you to discover interesting users and newcomers.
