Feeling Nostalgic About The Classic Mac OS? Download Classic Note For iOS

Last week, Susan Kare made a surprise virtual appearance on iOS through the new “Iconic Bites” sticker pack that she made for Path. Kare is, of course, the iconic (heh) designer behind many of the icons and typefaces in the classic Mac OS. Now, the classic Mac OS itself has made its comeback through iOS … sort of............................

If you want a slice of the classic Mac OS on your iDevice, you’re free to have it by downloading the newly released Classic Note app.
Classic Note “puts the days of one-button mice and 3.5″ floppy disks in your pocket, without breaking your back.” As its App Store description urges: “Take your notes like it’s 1985.
Classic Note actually also includes a calculator in addition to a note-taker. Both are rendered in all their delightful pixelated glory. And both feature the famous Chicago typeface, which was designed by Kare herself.
The app is developed by David T. Green, who, in a statement toTechCrunch, said:
My main inspiration came when I was playing around with System 6 in Mini VMac a few months ago and noted that the flat colors and shapes of the older OS had a lot in common with the design of modern mobile apps such as Letterpress, and Microsofts Metro style apps. From there I just felt it would be incredibly fun to have some simple little apps that reproduced the feel of the old desk accessories.
