Just when you thought iOS app developers have exhausted their idea reserves, here comes a new app with a novel approach to helping artists earn a little more out of their music.................
The app in question is SpacebarFM. Essentially, SpacebarFM offers audio streams of live performances, and it’s geared toward listeners, artists, and venue managers.
If you’re a listener, the app allows you to listen to a five-minute preview of a performance before you buy an audio ticket, which costs at least a dollar. While listening, you can also like or follow the artist and venue on Facebook or Twitter, tip the artist with a few dollars, and tell your friends about the performance itself.
If you’re an artist or a venue manager, you can connect the app to your audio console to broadcast a high-quality stream of your performance. You can also check out the analytics provided by the app in order to better understand and connect with your fan base.
Note that ticket revenue through the app is split equally between the artist, the venue, and Spacebar, the eponymous company behind SpacebarFM.
Note also that, according to TechCrunch, the likes of Lady Gaga, Kanye West, and John Legend have signed up to stream their upcoming performances through SpacebarFM.
