TomTom, the well-known company specializing in automotive navigation systems, has once again issued an update to its official iOS apps..................
Unsurprisingly, like many of the preceding updates, this new update brings the latest and most up-to-date TomTom maps. As pointed out by TomTom, “roads are constantly changing, on average 15 percent of roads change every year.” So, a map refresh is in order every now and then.
The update also adds advanced planning. With this feature, you’re now free to alter your pre-planned route without having to start all over. You can now change the starting point, destination, or departure in your pre-planned route. Your drive and arrival time will then change accordingly.
Finally, the update lets you free up space when updating the TomTom app on your iDevice provided that you have enabled iCloud backup:
If you are using the iCloud backup feature you can now delete the app to free up space when updating. Make sure that iCloud is enabled on your device, then open and close the TomTom app to make a backup. Now delete the app to free up space and download the update from the App Store.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.0 or later, theTomTom iOS apps are available in the App Store as region-specific coverage apps ranging in price from $49.99 to $119.99.
Note that this new version of the app is the last version to support iPhone 3G, second-generation iPod touch, and other devices running iOS 4.x.
