What Will You See Behind Wonder Slice?

Wonder Slice (Free) by LEWIS QUAIFE is a simple game that requires visual reasoning. Try to guess the object by looking at it through a centimeter-thick window. What appears to be nothing more than a line may actually be a complex image.

Players are presented with a virtual keyboard and a very thin window. Inside the window, some black lines scroll upward. Your goal is to guess what those black lines represent.
When you first start a game, the keyboard and thin window pop up. Tap the play icon at the top of the screen and some black lines will start to scroll upward through the centimeter-thick window. As it appears, you’ll be able to make out the curves, lines, and other objects. Individually, these images don’t look like anything more than a couple of lines, but your brain will interpret what the image is.
Most of the objects hidden behind the slice are letters, like “A,” “E,” and “Z.” However, sometimes, you’ll get a bigger object like a smiley face or a big black dot. Those are harder to figure out. For example, you may be able to tell that you are looking at a smiley face, but the actual answer may be “face, “smile,” or “happy.” You have to guess to find out.
You can guess as many times as you like without any penalties. If you are having trouble, you can use a hint. Hints cost 10 coins each and you can use two hints per level. If you can’t figure something out, you can skip a level for 30 coins. Players earn two coins for each successful solve, but you can buy more through in-app purchases.
Although this game is free, it really isn’t worth downloading. The keyboard is awkward and lags. I had to tap letters multiple times in order to type a word. The delete button was just awful. Once you start a “Classic Mode” game, you can’t stop playing it without exiting the app entirely. The user interface is irritating, at best.

Additionally, the game itself isn’t very fun. While it is interesting to see how your brain interprets tiny slices of image, it gets boring after a few minutes. The in-app advertising is very intrusive. Not only is there an ad banner at the bottom of the screen, but also, every few minutes an advertisement will pop up and take over the app. There is no option to remove the ads. Additionally, if you do want to spend money on more coins so you can buy hints or skip levels, it will cost you $9.99. There is no way to adjust the amount of coins you want to buy.
Even at the price of free, this app is not worth downloading. The interface is frustratingly annoying and the game itself gets boring after a few minutes. I recommend skipping this one.
