The Basics

Xtand Go is an elegant, reliable car mount for the iPhone.

Just Mobile’s Xtand Go is an iPhone-compatible car mount, which can secure your smartphone to a vehicle’s dashboard or windshield. With the availability of countless turn-by-turn navigation applications, including Apple’s own built-in albeit rather unstable Maps app, Xtand Go allows drivers to safely transform their handset into a usable satellite navigation device.

Our previous reviews of Just Mobile’s products have included the UpStand,AluPen, and LazyCouch, and in all honesty some of the company’s accessories seem pricy yet pointless. LazyCouch, a pair of iPad-elevating rubber-tipped aluminium disks, is particularly guilty of this.

I am pleased to report that Xtand Go, however, is different. The accessory is made of plastic, is lightweight, and includes one single screw-tension suction cup that allows users to attach the mount to a car’s windshield. In addition to this, Just Mobile includes three separate stand mounts and a selection of adhesive pads, which can be used to attach Xtand Go to one’s dashboard.

The product’s rubber-backed iPhone holder grips the smartphone at its sides, and is therefore compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5. Furthermore, the smartphone holder can be rotated, thereby allowing the user to easily switch between portrait and landscape, and can be turned in any direction.

As you can see in the above image, Xtand Go is also aesthetically pleasing; it features a “Just Mobile” rubber insignia, it looks neat and tidy, and it is available in both black and white.

Use And Feel

It’s easy to attach and detach Xtand Pro from a windshield.

To begin, Xtand Go should be commended for its suction pad. If you happen to have used a mount for any electronic device, you’ll know that getting the thing to stick to one’s windshield can be mission impossible. Fortunately, I was able to get Just Mobile’s car mount to stick and stay in one go.

At the same time, mounting Xtand Go to a car dashboard was also a trouble-free experience. The adhesive pads are strong and attach easily, yet fortunately didn’t leave residue when removed.

Once installed, the movable, rotating car mount is great to use. You can switch between portrait and landscape, and alter the direction Xtand Go is facing, quickly and easily, thanks to the product’s rotating, movable arm. The mount holds the iPhone securely, and I am pleased to report that while testing the product, Xtand Go didn’t fall from my car’s windshield or dashboard, or unexpectedly release the handset.

Furthermore, while Just Mobile’s product is indeed lightweight, I should also note that Xtand Go nevertheless feels durable enough to withstand being pulled from the windshield if users decide to remove the mount completely from their vehicle.

How Long Will It Last?

Thanks to the availability of a black and white Xtand Go, you can color coordinate the mount with your iPhone.

After using Xtand Go, I don’t see any reason why this product shouldn’t last for a decent amount of time – especially if users leave the mount installed in their car, rather than continually detaching and reattaching the accessory (thereby eradicating the possibility that one might accidentally break the mount while attempting to detach it).

As mentioned above, Just Mobile’s product feels durable, and so I’d expect customers to get their money’s worth with this accessory.

How Does It Stack Up?

I am pleased with this product.

This is probably one of Just Mobile’s best products, for reasons outlined above. Compared with some of the most popular iPhone car mounts on the market, Xtand Go is equally impressive, particularly because it looks far nicer than Belkin’s $30 window mount, iOttie’s $20 dashboard mount, andKensington’s $25 quick-release mount. Of course, Xtand Go is between $10-20 more expensive than these three alternatives, but I feel that one pays for the extra luxury with Just Mobile’s product.

Our Advice

If you’re looking for a car mount and price isn’t a huge issue, I would recommend Just Mobile’s Xtand Go. While $40 is on the expensive side for such an accessory, with this product you pay for what you get, and what you get with Xtand Go is a durable, reliable, and visually pleasing iPhone car mount.
