Apple’s rumored “iOS in the Car” feature, which we first told you about back in April, could connect iDevices to cars wirelessly using AirPlay and Wi-Fi, according to a new report from 9to5Mac.
In addition to the option of manually connecting one’s iPhone to a car using a USB cable, iOS in the Car will feature AirPlay integration, and will also allow users to connect using Wi-Fi, several informed sources have told the website.......................
Though no proof concerning AirPlay integration has yet been discovered, Hamza Sood (@HamzaSood), who has already uncovered a number of hidden features in iOS 7, was able to locate a Wi-Fi connection option for iOS in the Car in Apple’s prerelease mobile operating system (pictured above).
As such, AirPlay support doesn’t seem too far fetched.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple will begin building support for iOS in the Car through a number of more minor updates, perhaps with iOS 7.1 or iOS 7.2. The Cupertino, Calif. company plans to launch the service formally in 2014, along with several car manufacturers.
Apple launched iOS 7 beta 3 recently, making a number of further changes to the mobile operating system. For an overview, be sure to see our post on the prerelease software update.
