Kapow! Halftone 2 Goes From Free To Paid As It Strikes Out All In-App Purchases

Halftone 2, the sequel to the popular Halftone comics-style photo-editing app developed by Juicy Bits, has just gone from being freemium to being premium and IAP-free...................

From its launch last May up until a few hours ago, Halftone 2 was available to download for free. But it did come with several in-app purchase options for unlocking additional features.
The app offered a $1.99 in-app purchase each for the Captions, Stamps, Pages, and Fonts packs. Alternatively, all of these packs were available in one Essentials pack priced at $6.99, a dollar less than the total cost of the separate purchases of all of the packs.
But now, owing to “overwhelming feedback” from users, all in-app purchases have been removed by Juicy Bits from Halftone 2. Instead, Halftone 2 is now available as a $3.99 app that’s fully featured right out of the box.

If you have downloaded the app before, whether you’ve purchased an in-app premium pack or not, you need only update to its latest version for free to unlock all of its features.
Unfortunately, if you did purchase at least two premium packs, there appears to be no way for you to refund the amount in excess of the app’s current price.
The new, no-IAP version of Halftone 2 also includes the following enhancements:
  • Added a link to our online video tutorials from the settings panel
  • Even more stability during multi-page PDF and CBZ exports
  • Added progress indicator and cancel button when sharing (user request)
  • Added a sample project for inspiration/editing
  • Numerous bug fixes and minor improvements
The app remains compatible only with iPad running iOS 6.0 or later. But its iPhone edition is already on the way, as suggested by a couple of work-in-progress iPhone screenshots teased by Juicy Bits last week.
