AppAdvice Game Of The Week For October 5, 2012

AppAdvice Game Of The Week For October 5, 2012

Every week, our staff will handpick a game from the past two weeks that we believe is a must-download for your iPhone or iPad. These games will always be from a wide variety of genres, but they are chosen because our own staff members love it and can’t quite put it down. So here are this week’s picks! Enjoy, and happy gaming!

Bad Piggies

Get ready for a new puzzling adventure with our Game of the Week!
Get ready for a new puzzling adventure with our Game of the Week!
Our Game of the Week for today is none other than Rovio’s latest hit, Bad Piggies.
With Bad Piggies, we get to see things from the green pigs’ point of view, rather than the angry birds that we’ve been so used to. Rather than slinging pigs with a slingshot, you’ll be helping them map out their plan to acquire the eggs from the birds.
Gameplay is similar to Amazing Alex, since there is some construction involved, along with the laws of physics. Levels consist of several different objects, and your objective is to drag and drop them into their place to create a vehicle of sorts, with the pig in it, of course. Once your vehicle is made, you must help steer it towards the stars and map found at the end of the level.
If you have trouble with levels, there is always the Mechanic Pig, which is similar to the Mighty Eagle found in the Angry Birds games. The Mechanic Pig can build vehicles for you, and the only thing left for you to do is pilot it. You can tweak the design if you so choose.
The gameplay is definitely a fresh take on the franchise, while being simple enough to quickly pick up and play. The game features the same old Angry Birds style that you know and love.
The game features 60 levels, and 30 more puzzles to unlock by getting three stars on all levels. There are also sandbox levels where you can get creative. Over 30 objects are available, such as motors, wings, fans, umbrellas, and more, for you to construct the catalysts for the piggies’ plan. Rovio will continue to provide updates for free.
If you’re an Angry Birds fan or just like some challenging puzzles, then make sure to grab Bad Piggies in the App Store.

Honorable Mention

God of Blades

Hack and slash your way through your opponents as The Nameless King.
Hack and slash your way through your opponents as The Nameless King.
Our Honorable Mention is God of Blades, an epic side-scrolling auto runner. Love these types of games? Then you will definitely want to check this one out.
You will take on the role of the Nameless King, who is an undead ruler that has been chose to protect a dying world. Your goal is to destroy all of the incoming enemies before they kill you instead.
The Nameless King will run and battles begin automatically — all you have to do is swing the blade at the correct time to fight your opponents. To swing, just swipe up, down, left, or right. You can parry with a swipe from left to right.
This may seem like a simple game, but there is actually a deep, enriching plot. You can also earn more blades by unlocking memories. The game also rewards players for visiting local libraries, because you can access the Loreseeker section of God of Blades while at a library to gain access to exclusive swords.
If you love sci-fi and fantasy, then this is a match made in heaven for you. Make sure to give it a try.
