If IFTTT finally releases a iOS app, then I’m bound to download it right away.
Well, guess what. IFTTT released its official iOS app mere moments ago, and sure enough, I downloaded it in short order.................
Why? Simply because IFTTT is simply awesome, and it’s great to finally have it as a native iOS app.
IFTTT, of course, stands for “if this, then that.” Essentially, it works by connecting Channels using Recipes.
In IFTTT parlance, Channels are “services like Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, as well as devices like Philips Hue, Belkin WeMo, and UP by Jawbone,” while Recipes are “connections between your Channels that unlock entirely new ways for your services and devices to communicate with each other.”
And with the new IFTTT app for iOS, you can now manage your Channels and Recipes on the go.
What’s more, with the app, you get to unlock and activate three new iOS-exclusive Channels, namely, Contacts, Photos, and Reminders. So, now you can, say, send a “Nice meeting you” email to a new contact, upload a new screenshot to your Dropbox account, or track a completed workout reminder in your UP feed — automatically.
We’ll have an in-depth review of this (already awesome) app later, so make sure to check back here on AppAdvice for that.
