Apple has announced that it will be donating 50 million yuan ($8 million) to victims of the recent Sichuan earthquake. In addition, the company has added a message of condolence to its home page in China...................
Further to this, Apple is also offering free iDevices to affected schools in the Sichuan region, and promises that its local employees will be ready to help in any way.

At this difficult time, our hearts are with the victims of the Sichuan earthquake. Aside from the cash donation to help the affected people to tide over their difficulties, we are committed to providing new Apple devices to schools in the disaster area, and Apple employees in the locality are on stand-by at any time to help.
Hours before the news of Apple’s donation hit the Web, Samsung announcedthat it will be offering earthquake victims a donation of 60 million yuan ($9.63 million). Local media in China is also reporting that Samsung has set up a free phone repair service in certain parts of the disaster area.
